Armco for Schools?
Whilst perusing the newsstand today, I couldn't help but notice the Echo's shocking headlines...Seems that another primary school has been hit by a car. The car in question, a powerful Merc, ended up wholly inside a pre-schoolers classroom, having gone straight through the classroom's solid brick wall. Only by the greatest of luck, did this happen at 0830am and before class began, or we would be looking at a terrible tragedy.
Bearing in mind, this isn't the first incident of its kind. Surely it would be only prudent, to initiate a program of barrier-installation for schools located within 'striking distance' of roads? Otherwise, it can only be a matter of time before another school is hit, quite possibly with a rather less fortunate outcome.

Don't know if you've noticed the railings outside Meols Cop School, St Marks on Southport Rd or even the ones outside KGV on Scarisbrick New rd.

Better than nothing, admittedly. There are though many schools around the UK, where as we've seen today, cars can quite easily 'get in' unannounced.

They've been there years, most schools have them to stop the kids running into the road.

Railings would also be adequate, to prevent light stuff like out-of-control bikes from crashing through and causing mayhem. But rather less effective, should a rogue bus or 30-tonner come their way.

You can never protect completely as there always needs to be access points, the determined idiot will always find ways.

If this crash happened on school land. Will it be covered by the car's insurance?

Do you ever dream of winning the Lottery? Well the odds of a vehicle hitting a school building in the UK each year are about the same.

Not saying it's an annual event. Though with so many cars in use nowadays, it has become a growing trend. Which is why it's come time to take preventative steps, or sooner or later more kids will die.
